Kathy Hilton and Paris Hilton break their silence on Kyle Richards’ separation from Mauricio Umansky while promoting season 2 of Paris in Love.
Kathy Hilton and her oldest daughter, Paris Hilton, are speaking out for the first time since the news broke that Kyle Richards had separated from her husband, Mauricio Umasnky.
The RHOBH alum admits she was heartbroken by the news after learning that Kyle and Mauricio’s marriage was going through a “tricky time.”
“When I first saw it, I was just like, it just broke my heart,” Kathy Hilton admitted on Monday’s episode of TODAY With Hoda and Jenna, adding that Kyle is the “strongest” and “bossiest” sister out of her and Kim Richards.
“She’s very strong, she’s resilient,” she continued. “I just want her to be happy.”
Kathy added, “I love my nieces,” referring to Kyle and Mauricio’s four daughters.
As for speculation that Kyle and Mauricio will reconcile, as they spent Thanksgiving together with their four daughters, Kathy shared:
“Honestly, you’re asking me? There’s no way that Kyle would’ve gone this far unless she really thought about it.”
Paris then noted that her Aunt Kyle is “looking hotter than ever” thanks to her new lifestyle changes, which included no longer drinking and a strict workout routine.
“But then the dating’s gonna start, and I’m gonna go,” Kathy added while gesturing that it would be chaotic before agreeing that she’ll have to give Kyle some advice.
In July, rumors about Kyle and Mauricio’s marriage began to pop up on social media. The gossip was further fueled by PEOPLE, who reported that Kyle and Mauricio were separating after 27 years of marriage.
Kyle and Mauricio denied being separated in a joint statement on social media.
By September, Kyle and Mauricio finally confirmed their separation.
“We are currently separated, we are not talking about divorce, and we’re trying to deal with this stuff internally with ourselves privately,” Mauricio told TMZ in September.
“Divorce is not part of our conversation right now. That is not part of what we’re dealing with. We’re dealing with a separation,” the RHOBH husband reiterated.
The RHOBH couple wed in 1996. They share daughters Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15. Mauricio is also stepfather to Kyle’s daughter Farrah Aldjufrie, 34, from her first marriage to Guraish Aldjufrie.
