Looks like Mikey Williams will avoid jail time after he was connected to a California shooting that took place outside of his home earlier this year.
The basketball superstar, pleaded guilty to a single felony count of making a criminal threat, according to multiple reports on Thursday. The plea deal that Williams took requires him to complete 80 hours of community service and attend cognitive behavior therapy, gun safety and anger management classes. If the ball player successfully completes those conditions and has no new legal issues, then the felony charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor.

Williams, who is only 19-years-old is also restricted from possessing a firearm as part of the plea deal and will have a 10-year gun restriction placed on his record when he is sentenced on August 12. In a video posted by Overtime, Williams was seen walking out the courthouse and he was asked about he’s feeling after today’s court appearance. “I feel good brother, you know all glory to God I’m just happy that I made it out this situation, but I’m excited to be back on the court.”
As we previously reported, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department revealed Williams was arrested in connection with an altercation that occurred on March 27. According to Fox 5, three juveniles testified that Williams threatened them at his home moments before the Tesla they were riding in was hit by bullets on March 27. No one in the car was hit.
In a previous hearing, the witnesses did testify saying that they never saw Mikey actually pulling the trigger but they did see him holding a gun. The Tesla that the juveniles were driving reportedly had two gunshots to the trunk and two to the back windshield. Williams’ defense attorney, Troy Owens, initially wanted the judge to dismiss the charges because of a lack of direct statements from any witnesses about Williams shooting at them. Owens also argued the shooting may have been an act of self-defense.

Williams has been widely recognized for his impressive basketball skills and athleticism, with many basketball analysts and scouts comparing him to NBA superstar Russell Westbrook. He first gained national attention as a freshman in high school when he averaged 29.9 points per game and led his team to a 23-8 record.
