Global News Calgary reporter Leslie Horton was about to go on air last week when she received an email and recognized the sender, who mentioned that they watched her traffic report earlier. During the live broadcast, Horton read the email: “Congratulations on your pregnancy. If you’re going to wear old bus driver pants, you can expect emails like this.”
Deciding that was enough, Horton addressed the troll and said, “Just going to respond to an email I just got….So thanks for that; no, I’m not pregnant. I actually lost my uterus to cancer last year. And this is what women of my age look like, so if it is offensive to you, that is unfortunate. Think about the emails that you send.”

Horton received much support after the video clip went viral on X-formerly known as Twitter. One user wrote, “Leslie is a gem and respected here in Calgary this is very sad I hope she knows we all support her.” Another said,“People can be so mean. And the ones that do this kind of stuff look like Ugg mugs themselves.”
