Ranbir Kapoor’s latest movie, Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Kabir Singh fame, has set the global box office ablaze. The film, which has been making waves both domestically and internationally, continues to dominate theaters. Recent reports suggest that Animal’s box office collection has crossed the $59 million mark within six days of its release, solidifying its position as a blockbuster.

According to the industry tracker Sacnilk reports, Animal added $3.5 million to its domestic box office collection on Wednesday alone. This brought its total India collection to a whopping $37.5 million. The film’s occupancy rate has been going steadfast. The occupancy rate was 34.88% in Hindi, 25.67% in Telugu, and 18.95% in Tamil on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

Animal had a theatrical release on December 1, 2023, alongside Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur. The film had a blockbuster opening and continued its impressive run. Moreover, it has been speculated that Animal might soon surpass Ranbir Kapoor’s previous blockbuster, Sanju. The latter boasts a worldwide collection of $70.3 million.

Animal review: Bobby Deol’s mother couldn’t bear to watch the movie

Amidst the infamous storyline and infectious music, Bobby Deol’s portrayal of the villain, Abrar Haque, has emerged as a highlight of the film. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Bobby shared insights into his family’s reaction to his performance. Additionally, he revealed that while his father and elder brother have yet to watch the film, his mother expressed conflicting emotions due to the movie’s hyper-violent nature.

Bobby recounted, “My mom couldn’t handle my death scene. She was like, ‘You shouldn’t do films like this, I can’t watch them’”. He further added, ” I told her look, I’m standing in front of you, I just played a part’. But she’s very happy… The amount of phone calls she’s getting, all her friends want to meet me. Something similar happened when Aashram released.”
