James Gunn’s DC Universe Recasting ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Character With Marvel Star

Deadline reports that Marvel star Sean Gunn, known for his work in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, is poised to step into the role of the nefarious businessman Maxwell Lord in the newly revamped DC Univese.

The character of Maxwell Lord was last seen on the big screen in 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984, portrayed by Pedro Pascal. Sean Gunn’s interpretation of the character is expected to offer a new take on the iconic villain, who made his debut in the pages of 1987’s Justice League #1.

While details are still emerging, it is currently uncertain whether Sean Gunn’s Maxwell Lord will make an appearance in Superman: Legacy, which is scheduled to begin production in 2014. Deadline indicates that Lord may be subtly referenced in the background of Legacy, setting the stage for his involvement in future DC Universe projects.
