Netflix has released a new full trailer for its upcoming Korean mystery thriller monster series, Gyeongseong Creature. I’m intrigued by what I’ve seen in the trailers for this series, and I’m excited about watching this show!

The series, set to premiere in two parts starting in late December, promises to take viewers on a gripping journey through the historical and mysterious landscape of Gyeongseong (old Seoul) in 1945.

The series is set against the backdrop of Seoul’s grim era under colonial rule, the series follows an entrepreneur and a sleuth who “fight for survival and face a monster born out of human greed. Park Seo-jun portrays Jang Tae-sang, the owner of the House of Golden Treasure pawnshop – the wealthiest, most well-connected person in Gyeongseong –, and Han So-hee takes on the role of Yoon Chae-ok, a sleuth with a reputation for the impossible. Together, they delve into the mysterious and tumultuous world of 1945.”

The cast also includes Han So-hee, Claudia Kim, known for her role in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, alongside Kim Hae-sook, Cho Han-cheul, and Wi Ha-jun from the critically acclaimed Squid Game.

Directed by Korean filmmaker Chung Dong-yoon, known for his work on the Hot Stove League series, and scripted by Kang Eun-kyung, the creative mind behind Dr. Romantic and What Happens to My Family?, Gyeongseong Creature promises a perfect blend of suspense, mystery, and historical intrigue.

GyeongSeong Creature Part 1 will stream on Netflix from December 22nd, 2023, followed by the release of Part 2 on January 5th, 2024.
