MHz Choice will show South African crime drama Cousins In the U.S.

The Mean Girls Walmart commercial that premiered earlier this year brought back nostalgic memories for fans of the iconic teen comedy. However, one key member of the Plastics, Rachel McAdams, was noticeably absent from the reunion. In a recent interview with Variety, McAdams shed light on her decision to skip the commercial and why she has historically turned down such opportunities.

The Walmart Black Friday commercial featured Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried reprising their roles as Cady Heron, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith, respectively. The ad caught the attention of fans who were excited to see the original cast members back together. Rajiv Surendra (Kevin Gnapoor) and Daniel Franzese (Damian) also made appearances, along with the talented singer Missy Elliott.

In the interview, McAdams revealed that she has a long-standing policy of declining commercial offers. When she was initially approached about the Walmart ad, she was unaware that her fellow cast members had agreed to participate. McAdams explained that her decision was not a reflection of any ill feelings towards the Mean Girls reunion but rather a personal choice to avoid commercial endorsements: “I don’t know; I guess I wasn’t that excited about doing a commercial if I’m being totally honest,” McAdams told Variety. “A movie sounded awesome, but I’ve never done commercials, and it just didn’t feel like my bag. Also… I didn’t know that everyone was doing it. I would, of course, always love to be a part of a Mean Girls reunion and hang with my plastics, but yeah, I found that out later.”

McAdams’ stance on commercials is not a new one. Throughout her career, she has been selective about the projects she takes on, prioritizing roles that align with her artistic vision. This decision has allowed her to establish herself as a versatile and respected actress, known for her performances in films such as The Notebook, Spotlight, and Doctor Strange.

By turning down commercial opportunities, McAdams has maintained her integrity as an artist. She has consistently chosen roles that challenge her and showcase her talent, rather than associating herself with brand endorsements. This approach has earned her the respect of both her peers and audiences alike.

More On The Classic Film

Mean Girls, released in 2004, became an instant classic and a cultural phenomenon. The film’s witty script, memorable characters, and relatable themes resonated with audiences of all ages. McAdams’ portrayal of the iconic Regina George solidified her status as a talented actress capable of bringing complex characters to life.

While speaking with the outlet, McAdams also addressed rumors that she might be making a little cameo in the upcoming Mean Girls movie, which is adapted from the Broadway musical.

Writer “[Tina Frey] and I sort of dabbled with a few ideas, but it was tough to make it all work in the end,” McAdams explained. “I was really down for whatever she wanted to do. I think the direction it went in will be fantastic and I cannot wait to see it.”

While McAdams may have skipped the Mean Girls Walmart ad, fans can still look forward to her future projects. With her undeniable talent and commitment to her craft, it is only a matter of time before she graces the screen with another captivating performance.
