Latto’s joint effort with Jungkook has earned the pair immense success over the past year, as reflected by the song’s growing popularity, especially.

As of Thursday (December 21), “Seven” has generated 1.21 billion streams on Spotify since its release over the summer. With that, the American-Korean crossover has bagged the spot for the most-streamed collaboration of 2023.

The Georgia rapper joined forces with the BTS sweetheart in mid-July and their single immediately began making waves, becoming the 24-year-old’s most commercially successful tracks to date.

In late October, Chart Data reported that the blockbuster had surpassed a billion plays on the streaming giant in the least amount of time any song ever has — approximately three and a half months.

Upon the song’s release, Latto reasserted Hip Hop’s chart dominance by becoming the first rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023, and she did so by making a grand entrance at No. 1.

According to Billboard, the upbeat, dance floor-friendly hit soared to the top spot thanks to 21.9 million streams, 6.4 million in airplay audience, and 153,000 combined digital and CD singles in its opening week.

The colossal hit marked the first No. 1 single for both Latto and Jung Kook, with the former’s previous best coming in April 2022 with “Big Energy,” which peaked at No. 3.

Latto celebrated the news at the time by posting a photo on Instagram of her pretending to wipe tears from her eyes, along with another of her blowing a kiss to the camera.

“#1,” she captioned the post, which was met with congratulatory comments from Yung Miami, Flo Milli and more.

“Seven” was a monumental win for Hip Hop as its lack of a No. 1 single in the first half of 2023 raised concerns about its future considering the genre spent the last half-decade as the most popular genre of music in the U.S.
