According to AL.com, on December 13 a report was filed against Pritchett, which led to a warrant under AL Code § 22-11A-21: “Any person afflicted with a sexually transmitted disease who shall knowingly transmit, or assume the risk of transmitting, or do any act which will probably or likely transmit such disease to another person.”
On Wednesday (December 20), Elijah Pritchett, who arrived in Tuscaloosa in 2022 as a 5-star prospect out of Midland, Georgia, was taken into custody by officials with the Tuscaloosa Police Department. He was charged with a Class C misdemeanor and he is now facing fines of up to $500 and up to three months in jail if convicted. Since his arrest, the college football player was released on a $500 bond, days before the Crimson Tide is set to head off to Pasadena, California for the College Football Playoff semifinal.
At the time of publication, the University of Alabama has not yet made any public statement about Elijah Pritchett’s arrest and charges for allegedly knowingly spreading an STD. Additionally, Alabama head coach Nick Saban isn’t scheduled for any press conferences or media obligations until he arrives in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl.

It’s reported that Pritchett is a redshirt freshman and was granted youthful offender status, which is eligible for anyone who is between the ages of 18 and 21 years old. According to the AL.com, the 19-year-old football player was granted the status by a judge in Tuscaloosa, which now allows him to plead down to a lighter sentence and waive his right to trial by jury.
It also means that Pritchett will avoid a criminal conviction and any records from his case will be sealed off from the public. Additionally, as part of the agreement the University of Alabama footballer entered into, an evaluation of his character and any prior criminal history will be presented to the court.

One of those instances might include an incident that happened earlier this year. On April 7, around 5:45 p.m., Elijah Pritchett got himself into trouble after he was pulled over for going 95 in a 65-mph zone on U.S. Route 82 in Bibb County. The footballer was leaving Alabama’s first spring scrimmage in Bryant-Denny Stadium and was driving a 2014 Mercedes-Benz.
At the time, the footballer told the officer who pulled him over that he wasn’t aware of how fast he was traveling. A month later in court, he pleaded guilty and was ordered to do 10 hours of community, complete a 4-hour defensive driving course, and pay $197 in court fees. On September 5, Pritchett completed the requirements and a judge dismissed his case.
