Future and Metro Boomin‘s long-awaited collaborative album has finally been confirmed by Pluto himself, though he didn’t give an exact release date.

The “Mask Off” rapper took to his Instagram Stories on Saturday (December 23) to post a screenshot of a tweet that read: “Pluto x Metro.”

In the screenshot, he confirmed that the “album [is] on the way [eagle emoji].”

Check it out below:

Metro Boomin and Future have a long and successful creative partnership going back over a decade to the release of “Karate Chop” in 2013.

Since then, Metro has produced some of Hendrix’s biggest hits including “Mask Off,” “Low Life” and “Wicked,” as well as Drake collaborations “Where Ya At” and “Jumpman.”

Despite not having produced a record for any of Future’s albums since 2017’s Hndrxx, the duo have repeatedly teased a collaborative project.

Metro Boomin first confirmed the as-yet-unnamed album back in March, while still riding the wave of success for his Heroes & Villains album, which also features Future on tracks like “Too Many Nights” and “Superhero (Heroes & Villains).”

“Definitely. I would bet on it,” he said of the chances of the joint LP making landfall in the calendar year. “I would definitely bet on it.”

In September, Metro posted a picture of himself in the studio with Future along with the caption: “AOTY [album of the year] loading [three battery emojis].”

Metro previously said the album could be expected before the end of 2023, though that doesn’t seem likely at this juncture.

The producer did admit to Apple Music’s Ebro Darden that the delay in the project was due to their determination to get it perfect: “I know how important this album from both of us is going to be. With our track record, it’s important that we deliver and not miss at all. Me and him working together is easy ’cause we’ve been doing it for 10-plus years.”

Future and Metro also performed together earlier in the year in Atlanta, with the producer later reflecting on the moment and their relationship.

“You know, Pluto, that’s my brother,” he said. “We’ve been at it for a long time. This whole superhero moment, it’s like the beginning of our phase two.

“We haven’t had a song out since ‘Mask Off,’ they’ve been on our heads. With this, and then the whole State Farm thing, it’s starting to slowly put people on notice: we crankin’ that shit back up too.”

Metro Boomin is nominated for two awards at the 2024 Grammys, including Producer of the Year and Best Rap Album for Heroes & Villains.
