On Friday (December 22), Theresa, a mother of three and the owner of House of Glam Hawaii LLC in Waipahu, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Pearlridge shopping center in Honolulu, HI. Local news outlets report that the influencer and her daughter were making their way to the bank when 44-year-old Jason Cachuela approached the mother-and-daughter duo before shooting his estranged wife in the head.
Police said the daughter witnessed the shooting and told them that she saw her dad pull the trigger. Shortly after fleeing the scene in a gray Mazda, police said Jason was found dead behind a residence. Police are now investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide, which happened just days after a judge granted Theresa’s petition for an order of protection against her estranged husband.

According to court records, Theresa’s petition for the temporary restraining order included a statement where she claimed that Jason had allegedly threatened to kill himself in front of her. Per the Hawaii Tribune, Theresa wrote, “He then took me alone to Waikiki and held a knife to his neck traumatizing me and scaring me. The next morning he showed up to my house early in the morning to apologize. I tried to help him and talk to him but he kept threatening to kill himself again.”
Per Hawaii News Now, Ani-Nihoa, Theresa’s mother who has also started a GoFundMe in her honor, said that her daughter previously told relatives that she had been abused by her husband, prompting her to file a temporary restraining order against him due to his alleged continued harassment and stalking. She said, “She wanted to leave him but he wasn’t accepting it. He tried to control her with, with everything … where she would go what she would do.” Ani-Nihoa also said Theresa had also recently filed for divorce.

On Friday, before the gunman was found dead, Police Lt. Deena Thoemmes said, “This was not a random act, as the victim and suspect were involved in a relationship. We do know that there was a TRO that was served on him, which is why this case was classified as murder in the first degree.”
The Hawaii Tribune also reported that when police served Jason with the temporary restraining order filed by his estranged wife, they also recovered five registered firearms from his possession. With the TRO, Jason was only permitted to contact Theresa for child custody. The couple had been married for nearly 11 years.
