Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the suspect who is being accused of orchestrating the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur is reportedly going to ask a judge on Tuesday to release him to house arrest ahead of the trial in June.
According to ABC 13, lawyers for Keefe D are claiming that their 60-year-old client is no threat to the community and won’t try to flee before his trial. They also stated that due to his poor health condition he should have to stay behind bars until his trial. Prosecutors submitted new documents last week stating that jail telephone recordings and a list of names provided to Davis’ family members show that there are witnesses at risk of harm if Davis was released.

They also shared how Davis’ own words since 2008 — in police interviews and in his 2019 tell-all memoir provides strong evidence that he orchestrated the September 1996 drive-by shooting. Davis is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in a Nevada state prison.
According to AP, Keefe D was charged with murder with use of deadly weapon. A grand jury in Las Vegas indicted him in the killing, according to prosecutors. Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo said a grand jury had been seated in the case for “several months.” DiGiacomo described Davis as the “on-ground, on-site commander” who “ordered the death” of Shakur.

As we previously reported, Keefe D has publicly done interviews where he admitted to being in the car that shot bullets into the vehicle that Suge Knight was driving with Tupac in the passenger seat in 1996. He also spoke about the murder in his 2019 tell-all memoir, “Compton Street Legend.” This arrest now comes two months after police raided his wife’s home on July 17th. The house that was raided is owed by Paula Clemons who is the wife of the former crip, Keefe D. In serval videos on YouTube Keefe D can be heard claiming to be the uncle of Orlando Anderson who people have suspected to be Tupac’s killer for years.
