Andy Cohen is addressing his past feud with Ryan Seacrest and burying the hatchet – or throwing it so far away that Ryan can’t use it himself.
On CNN’s New Year’s Eve special, Andy claimed he made a “big effort” to greet Ryan, who accused Andy last year of refusing to wave back at him amid their past drama.
Two years ago, before the ball dropped, the Watch What Happens Live host slammed “Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers,” who were performing for Ryan’s ABC segment. Andy made the comments on air after drinking alcohol; the next year, a CNN exec reportedly discouraged the on-camera drinking.
This year, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time, Andy downed a shot of booze and addressed where he stands with Ryan.
“Just want to point out I made a big effort. We waved at Seacrest,” said Andy, via Hollywood Reporter. “He saw us waving so he cannot go around saying that I dissed him.”
“Don’t start it,” warned his co-host Anderson Cooper. “Don’t even mention it.”
“I’m not starting it. I’m just keeping it real clean. We have waved. Connection has been made,” Andy insisted. “We complimented his outfit … He looked great. He’s in a very nice tux.”
Anderson expressed, “This is Andy stirring the pot.”
“Not really,” Andy responded. “Just keeping it clean. I’m keeping my side of the street clean this year.”
Despite his attempts to keep it clean, the host seemingly shaded singer Olivia Rodrigo’s song “Vampire,” which the singer performed as comedian Bridget Everett sang “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful” a cappella for CNN.
“I have to give it up to Bridget,” said Andy, “because the moment she started singing, some God-awful song is playing over there, and she sang — that is so hard to sing while another song is going. That was great.”
