#Socialites, do you remember the Burger King worker who went viral in June 2022 for never missing a day of work in 27 years? After his job gifted him a goodie basket at the time, tons of social media users felt it wasn’t enough, and eventually, his daughter created a fundraiser for him. Since then, the man is now buying his first home with the donations.

On December 13, 2023, Kevin Ford, who works as a cashier and cook at a Burger King restaurant located inside of the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, closed on his first home in Pahrump, Nevada. He says his new spot is about one hour away from work, but likes to drive, so he does not mind the long commute.
As mentioned, after receiving a mediocre gift basket from his employer in 2022, Ford racked up nearly $500,000 in GoFundMe donations from people all over the world. However, he only walked away with about $350,000 after the crowdsourcing fund took their share.

Speaking with TMZ, Ford said he used about half of his earnings and dropped $177,000 on his new 846-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom house. Ford said his first home also features a covered front deck, a fenced-in yard, and views of the surrounding mountains. He continued to tell the outlet that he plans on investing even more money into his new property.
With the rest of his GoFundMe earnings, Ford said he gave his daughter, Seryna Ford, a decent portion so that she could put some money towards a home for herself and his grandchildren. And with whatever was leftover, he put away for his retirement.

Taking to his Instagram on December 29, Ford posted a video and told his followers, “I wanted to show you something, something you made possible, you did for me, just a hardworking guy. Now I know it needs some work, gonna cut off the haters already, I know it’s not a mansion but it’s mine.”
It’s reported that Ford is still working at Burger King, where there’s been one major change since going viral. He admits that he has now missed one day of work, which happened to be for an appearance on the ‘TODAY’ show.
