The Rush Hour cinematic franchise is inarguably one of the best group of buddy cop films ever made. Their plot revolves around Chief Inspector Lee of the Hong Kong police force and Detective James Carter of the Los Angeles Police Department, as they navigate cultural differences and language barriers to stop terrible people from doing equally terrible things. Rush Hour came out in 1998, Rush Hour 2 in 2001, and Rush Hour 3 in 2006, and each one of them was commercially successful. If you are wondering whether there will be a fourth movie, this is what we have discovered.

Here’s all the Rush Hour 4 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.

Is there a Rush Hour 4 release date?

Rush Hour 4 does not have an official release date, but it will likely be announced in the future.

The talks about a potential fourth Rush Hour film have been around since the third one turned out to be a commercial success, with Brett Ratner, the director of the first three films, and Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, the two stars of the franchise, repeatedly expressing their interest to be involved in it over the years.

However, in November 2017, Ratner was accused of sexual misconduct by several actresses. Warner Bros., the parent company of the film’s distributor New Line Cinema, subsequently ended its contract with Ratner, and it’s highly unlikely that the filmmaker will return for the fourth film.

In December 2022, during an appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival, Chan announced that he was in talks about the fourth film. “We’re talking about part 4 right now,” the legendary action star revealed, before adding he was meeting the film’s director about the script that very evening. However, Chan didn’t mention who this director was.

Since then not much has been heard about the film. In March 2023, Tucker provided a hopeful update during his appearance on Audacy’s V-103 to promote Air. “You’re going to see a lot of good stuff coming, but it’s going to be on a whole other level,” the actor said. “That’s what I like…I’m excited about that. It’s not going to be what you’ve normally seen… Rush Hour 4, that’s something I definitely will probably drop in there because I love working with Jackie, but I’ve got some new stuff that I think you’re really gonna like. I’m excited about it.”

If Rush Hour 4 goes into production this year, there is a considerable chance for it to come out in 2025.

The potential cast of Rush Hour 4 might include Jackie Chan as Lee, Chris Tucker as James Carter, and more.

Where is Rush Hour 4 coming out?

Rush Hour 4 could come out in theaters.

This is because the previous three films were released theatrically. ComingSoon will provide an update if and when the Rush Hour 4 release date is officially announced.

The official synopsis for Rush Hour reads:

“When Hong Kong Inspector Lee is summoned to Los Angeles to investigate a kidnapping, the FBI doesn’t want any outside help and assigns cocky LAPD Detective James Carter to distract Lee from the case. Not content to watch the action from the sidelines, Lee and Carter form an unlikely partnership and investigate the case themselves.”

It’s been revealed that series creator Steven Knight is currently working on writing the final parts of the long-awaited Peaky…
