Ben Stiller is starring in a new film titled Nutcrackers for director David Gordon Green. This is the first film that Stiller has starred in in six years, and it’s the first movie that Green has made that isn’t a horror film since Halloween in 2018. The last film he made was Exorcist: Believer, which was a big disappointment. He has directed episodes of TV shows in between horror films, though.
Nutcrackers is currently in production in Ohio, and the story follows “the work-obsessed Mike (Stiller), who must reluctantly travel to rural Ohio to look after his four rambunctious nephews after their parents die in a car accident. What begins as a three-day trip to find foster care turns into weeks of farm-life mayhem – and the realization that he doesn’t need to find them a home, they’ve found one for him.”
That sounds like this is going to be a sweet and uplifting movie and a perfect project for Stiller and Green to team up on. I have no doubt that they’ll deliver a great film.
The script for the film comes from Leland Douglas (Call of the Wild) and it was developed by Rough House. Stiller is also a producer on the movie.
