Not so much a fan of surprises, Brian Austin Green disclosed his vital life decision after welcoming his baby his wife Sharna Burgess described as a “birth control baby.”
The reality star has earned accolades for being such a great dad after his son came out as gay, and this new disclosure might be another feather to his shiny cap.
Brian Austin Green ‘Closes The Shop’
The father-of-6 revealed that he opted for vasectomy following his 19-month-old son, Zane’s birth, after eight weeks of having him on his podcast alongside his wife. Detailing his experience, the podcaster said:
“Zane was born and I was like, ‘I think it’s time to close the shop.”
To corroborate Green’s story, Burgess described Zane as a “birth control baby” who was totally unplanned but still found his way into the world. Well, following the epic failure of their birth control option, Green hopped on the vasectomy option till they were ready to expand their family.
The decision brought huge relief for Burgess, who confessed that birth control always made her feel uncomfortable.
“So, I was really, really grateful for that. It was such a big and beautiful thing he did, and it secures comfort and no stress in our sex life — not worry about it, if we are or we aren’t [pregnant], which is such a gift,” added the 38-year-old.
Burgess further explained that should they decide to have more kids; they would ultimately explore the IVF route.
Apparently, Zane’s pregnancy was not the only surprise Green has had to deal with; in fact, he confessed that all his kids came unplanned, but he has zero regrets about them.
Green and Burgess got engaged last July after dating for three years and then welcomed their bundle of joy in June 2022. Prior to Zane’s birth, Green shared three sons with actress and ex-wife Megan Fox and a son, Kassius Lijah, with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil, whom he described co-parenting with as “difficult.”
As for Fox, they share quite an amicable relationship, as he explained, “When we need to, we communicate really well, we are open to things, we don’t take things personally. It is my goal, and I think it’s her goal as well, that the kids are in as healthy [of an] environment as they can be in.”

The Blast noted that the actor also spoke on what it was like to raise a gay son back in October after his 21-year-old son Kassius came out.
In the podcast with NSYNC’s Lance Bass, the reality star was praised for being open-minded and engaging in positive parenting techniques in dealing with Kassius. Bass said:
“He was so lucky to be able to be in your family because so many kids out there don’t get that. And even if their parents accept them, there’s a lot of times when the kid still knows that they still disagree with it.”
Despite the new terrain, Green disclose that things have largely remained the same, and the process of accepting Kassius’s sexual orientation did not come with so many hassles.
“I would get into these conservations with Kash where it was like I really wanted to understand the things that seemed so different to me at first. And then you realize, ‘Oh, this isn’t different at all.’ It’s just your choice of partner. It doesn’t affect me at all,” added the 50-year-old.
Green also shared how protective he became of Kassius, especially in the face of homophobia, bullying, and unprovoked negative opinions, adding that:
“And that’s the thing I’m always trying to beat into people now — it does not affect you. Why do you care so much? And why are you trying to somehow bully your feelings and your opinion into something that literally does not affect you at all?”
He then described the whole experience of watching his son settle into the new phase of his life as fascinating, in contrast to what most people feel. In his words:
“I think a lot of people are afraid of the unknown, whereas I’m not. To me, it’s intriguing. And I want to learn about it.”
Burgess also testified to Green’s parenting capabilities when she penned an emotional birthday tribute to him last July. She described the podcaster as the dream dad to the kids and reiterated that her “happily ever exists” wherever Green and the kids were.
