While many folks were busy being starstruck by Brie Larson at the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday, the actress was fangirling over Jennifer Lopez.

As she was being interviewed on the red carpet, the Lessons in Chemistry star got emotional when she spotted the Hustlers actress — which is very relatable. “Oh my God, I’m gonna cry. I can’t deal with J.Lo. I can’t, no, I can’t. I’m gonna cry. I’m gonna cry,” she said as Lopez approached her.

When the singer-actress-dancer went to embrace Larson, telling her she’s also “such a huge fan,” The Marvels star expressed why Lopez is such an inspiration to her.

“I saw Selena and it made me want to be an actor,” Larson said. “You’ve always meant so much to me. … It’s been a dream of mine [to meet you] so thank you so much! Your work ethic is so important, thank you.”

Lopez, who has left her mark on the music and film industry, portrayed Selena in the 1997 biopic, directed by Gregory Nava. The film followed the true story of how the Texas-born Tejano singer rose to fame, performing at the Astrodome and having chart-topping albums on the Latin music charts. Selena was killed in 1995, two years before the film was released.

As she tried to hold back tears, Larson added, “I’ve been wanting to say that to you for a long time. I did not think it was going to be right now.”

Before walking away, still in shock that she had just met her idol, the actress quipped, “I’m going to have to go do a shot of tequila or something.” She also made sure to point out to her mother, who she brought as her guest, that she just met Lopez, yelling, “Mom, oh my gosh!”

Larson has also had quite a successful career herself, starring in dozens of projects, including Short Term 12, Avengers: Endgame, United States of Tara and Room, the latter of which won her an Oscar for best leading actress.
