On this week’s episode of RHOBH, sisters Kim Richards and Kyle Richards discuss Kyle’s feud with sister Kathy Hilton and how it can be repaired.
The Richards sisters’ family drama has been the cornerstone of RHOBH since the franchise premiered in 2010. So, it’s not surprising that fourteen years later, the sisters are still dealing with ups and downs in their family dynamics.
On Wednesday’s episode of RHOBH, Kim Richards shared her concerns about sister Kyle Richards attending her daughter Whitney’s wedding in Aspen amid her ongoing rift with their oldest sister, Kathy Hilton.
During the discussion, Kyle insists she and Kathy can be in the same place and be polite and friendly to one another. She also admitted that she’s unsure about repairing her relationship with Kathy after their drama during season 12 of RHOBH.
Kyle and Kim got into an emotional and candid conversation on Wednesday’s RHOBH.
“I don’t want everybody — anybody — coming there that isn’t in a good place with somebody,” Kim explained.
Kyle responded, “I would always be — I mean, obviously, I haven’t seen Kathy; well, actually, I saw her at the Elton John Oscar party — but I would always be polite, always be nice.”
However, Kim noted that she didn’t want anyone to “overlook” their problems, to which Kyle said, “I’m not fighting.”
While Kathy did apologize to Kyle during season 12 of RHOBH, she ultimately retracted her apology at the season 12 reunion and on social, which made Kyle feel that the apology was ingenuine and held little to no weight.
“I really wanted to accept the apology and be able to move on,” Kyle said in her confessional. “But, it was the behavior after that really told me that she wasn’t sorry.”
Kim admits she really wants to see her sisters patch things up, but Kyle isn’t sure she’s ready.
“I miss my family. I miss our lunches. I miss our barbecues, I miss our fun together, as a family,” Kim said. “And two, this wedding’s coming up, and then Farrah’s…”
“… But what if I don’t want that relationship?” Kyle asks.
Kyle continued, “I mean, obviously if Kathy did take accountability and reached out to me and was genuine and wanted to repair our relationship, I would 100 percent be open to that. I’m just not willing to be mistreated. I’m scared to let her back in.”
“She can’t have a conversation like this,” Kyle told Kim. “She gets so mean. I really can’t handle the meanness, like the way that she talks.”
She added, “I don’t like that. It freaked me out when I was little. I don’t like that kind of thing… I just can’t have someone be that mean and talk like that. If she wants to have a conversation, I could do it, but it’s not about a conversation with her.”
After listening to her baby sister’s concerns, Kim told Kyle: “If you don’t even try, then you just go the rest of your life and never know … I don’t know that either one of you want to try and I don’t know that either one of you don’t want to try, but I think it’s so silly.”
“And I’ll tell you one thing: Mom never wanted this kind of stuff,” Kim added while tearing up. “She was all about us sticking together. Friends come and go, and people come and go, but family stays. And that was mom. And I understand her more now than I ever did.”
Ultimately, Kyle and Kathy both attended Kim’s daughter Whitney’s wedding in Aspen, and it gave the sisters the chance to reconcile.
At BravoCon 2023, Kyle admitted that she and Kathy were in a good place and were talking every day.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
