In the exclusive interview with Good Morning America where actor Jonathan Majors spoke publicly for the first time about his domestic violence trial, he expressed his gratitude towards his girlfriend, Meagan Good, for standing by his side throughout the ordeal. Majors, who faces potential sentencing and a year in prison, shared his side of the story and emphasized the importance of healing.
While reliving the 2023 March incident with his ex-Grace Jabbari, and the verdict that followed later on, the actor said he couldn’t believe how things turned out. As we previously reported, Majors was found guilty of one count of misdemeanor third-degree assault and one count of second-degree harassment while being acquitted of two other counts of assault and aggravated harassment in a split verdict. Despite the conviction, Majors plans to appeal the decision.
As we previously reported, during his trial, a recording made by his former partner, Jabbari, provided evidence to back up her claims including an audio that played and captured Majors shouting at her and demanding that she behave like influential figures such as Coretta Scott King or Michelle Obama. Speaking of that, he said, “I’m a great man. A great man. I do great things for my culture and for the world. … The woman that supports me needs to be a great woman,” Majors was heard on the recording saying. “Two nights ago, you did not do that, which took away from the plan.” Shifting gears to the new lady in his life, the entertainer gave all praise to his girlfriend Meagan Good for being by his side through thick and thin… “She’s an angel… she’s held me down like a Coretta.”

More On Majors’ Denial of Physical Abuse
In his interview with Linsey Davis, Majors vehemently denied ever being physically abusive in any of his relationships. He emphasized that he has never engaged in such behavior and wanted to address this misconception publicly. While the court found him guilty of certain charges, Majors maintained his innocence regarding physical abuse.
Majors expressed his desire to share his side of the story as part of the healing process. By speaking out, he hopes to shed light on the complexities of the trial and its impact on his life. Acknowledging the emotional toll the trial has taken on him, Majors emphasized the importance of finding closure and moving forward.
“I’m really blessed. I’m surrounded by people who love me, who care about me. But this has been very, very, very hard, and very difficult, and confusing in many ways,” he said. “But I’m standing.”
However, through tears he revealed that he hasn’t seen his daughter due to the case.
“Everything has kinda gone away. And it’s just me now, you know, and my lovely, you know, partner, [actress] Meagan [Good], and my dogs,” he said.
The actor is scheduled to be sentenced for the two guilty counts on Feb. 6. He’s looking at up to a year in prison on the two counts, though that sentence is unlikely for a first-time offender.
