Houston PD officials said the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. at a West Houston apartment complex in the 700 block of Bateswood Drive, which sits just South of the Katy Freeway and East of the Sam Houston Tollway. Before the shooting, police said the daughter left her mother a note accusing her stepfather of sexual abuse.
When the mother received the note, she went to pick up her daughter from her ex-husband’s house, the biological father, and then returned to the mother’s home. The Texas father later arrived at the mother’s home, where they began discussing the situation outside of the home. Eventually, the mother’s new husband, the stepfather, came back to the apartment and was confronted by both parents about the allegations, which he subsequently denied.

At that moment, the mother and daughter were said to have left the apartment, leaving the biological father and stepfather alone to continue discussing the allegations. During the altercation, the biological father ended up shooting the stepfather three times, once in the stomach and twice in the legs.
The stepfather was rushed to a local Houston hospital, in what police described as bad shape. Police added that the stepfather underwent surgery and is expected to survive. Police said after the shooting, the biological father returned to his home, which is near the ex-wife’s apartment. When officials arrived at the scene of the crime, the ex-wife’s house, they found the biological father at his apartment, where he fully cooperated with police officers.
