Diving once again into an enigmatic realm akin to Pandora’s box, Rezz and Subtronics are rekindling their collaborative energy after releasing “Black Ice.”

This latest collaboration only further evidences the seamless synergy between Rezz and Subtronics, two producers at the top of their respective game. Their latest auditory escapade finds the duo delving deeper into uncharted territory while forging a track that resonates with the adventurous spirit of their previous collaboration, 2022’s “Puzzle Box.”

In a bold leap into a new era of bass music production, Rezz teased “Black Ice” as the start of new beginnings back in November 2023. Teasing collaborations with Blanke, Subtronics and SVDDEN Death’s VOYD alias at the time, she promised her next chapter would be genre-defying in nature. True to her word, “Black Ice” is an undefined blend of styles, refusing to be pigeonholed into any single category.

The track begins with an ominously plotting groove. Mysterious and alluring, the production soon unravels into a double-time rhythm, which is layered with elements of crunchy distortion and whimsically wobbly synths. It’s a sound that captures the unique creative spirits of both artists, aptly merging their distinctive styles with precision.

Rezz and Subtronics’ “Black Ice” is out now by way of a joint release between the former’s HypnoVizion and latter’s Cyclops Recordings. Listen below and stream the new collaboration here.
