Musician Anderson .Paak has filed for divorce from his wife, Jaylyn Chang, after over 12 years of marriage.
According to the legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Paak filed for dissolution of marriage in the Los Angeles Courts. In the filing, Anderson is asking for joint physical and legal custody of his children.
In the filing, Paak is asking the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to his ex-wife. The former couple shares two kids, Soul Rasheed (13) and Shine Tariq (6).
Paak met his wife, a music student from South Korea, while she was in college. Back in 2011, before becoming a successful musician, Paak was reportedly working on a Marijuana farm in Santa Barbara, California. Shockingly, he was fired and became homeless with his wife and infant son. The couple welcomed their second child in 2017.
This is Paak’s second marriage, but opened up about the situation to ‘The Breakfast Club’ saying “Jaylyn is the one that matters.”

Anderson discussed his marriage in an interview with Hypebeast, saying the quarantine allowed him to spend more quality time with his wife and two sons.
“My son was really into YouTube, so I was like ‘We should do skits’ because he’s naturally funny and he dances. I started helping him film skits, and then he would help me edit them,” Paak recalled. “We were staying up till two or three in the morning, making these videos together. It made me want to make a movie with him,” he said.
It should be noted, that Anderson does not give a date of the couple’s “separation” — simply stating it’s “TBD.”
As you know, Paak in one half of the R&B collaboration ‘Silk Sonic’ with Bruno Mars, and is a very succession musician with eight Grammy Awards, a record label, and collaborations with some of the biggest names in music. Jaylyn is a singer in a gospel rock group.
One of Paak’s biggest collaborations is with Dr. Dre. “His ear is his ear, man, he be hearing s–t and it’s like if he ain’t feeling it, he’ll let you know right away, man. It hardly ever has to grow on him, he knows right away,” Paak told Esquire of their relationship.
Adding, “I like that about him though, sometimes I’m a little indecisive, so it really helps me. It’s like, ‘Okay, well Dre ain’t feeling this, so maybe this ain’t the one, or I’m going to take a chance on this.’”
