Ethan Hawke really wants to be cast in a Star Wars project! He’s a huge fan of the franchise and while talking on the TODAY show, Hawke was asked about his desire to be in a Star Wars film or series, and the actor said: “That hasn’t worked! I’ve said it on every talk show, thinking I’m going to get [cast]. I’ve put it out there, but it hasn’t helped.”
He went on to say that he would play “Obi-Wan’s best friend” or any other role offered to him, Hawke added: “I’ll do whatever they want. Give me a lightsaber. I’ll be a bad guy, I’ll be a good guy, I don’t care.”
It’d be fun to see Hawke jump into the Star Wars universe, but Lucasfilm doesn’t have a role for him to play… yet. When previously talking about wanting to join a Star Wars project, he said: “Isn’t it amazing? I mean, I did a hard public pitch! I know, and I see all these great people in these things and I could have played that part. I could have played that part. I guess somebody up there doesn’t like me.”
He then took a more optimistic stance, saying: “I think they’ve got something– what I make myself feel better is I think they’ve got something really good in mind.”
Lucasfilm should bring Hawke into the franchise! There’s got to be a cool character for him to play! I mean, he doesn’t need Star Wars, but he obviously wants to have some fun playing in the sandbox!
