Heather Dubrow took to her Instagram Story to defend herself on Thursday after being called out for sporting “protruding ribs” and a crop top in a series of photos taken at a GLAAD event this week.
Just weeks after the Real Housewives of Orange County cast member, 54, faced plastic surgery rumors following an outing in Los Angeles in which her face looked a bit tighter than normal, Heather admitted to “sucking” in her stomach for pics as she shared what her tummy actually looks like.
“Proud to be a part of such a wonderful and meaningful night celebrating [GLAAD] and the amazing achievement of receiving the Governors Award at the Emmys … What an honor to be recognized for its work accelerating acceptance of LGBTQ people through media, entertainment, and beyond. Thank you [Kathy Hilton] and [Sarah Kateellis] for being such fabulous hosts and cheers to [GLAAD] for truly making a difference,” Heather wrote in the caption of a slideshow of images posted to her account on January 11.
Following the sharing of the post, Heather was met with backlash.
“Does Heather not [realize] we all know she’s sucking her stomach in as hard as possible … That’s why the ribs are sticking forwards!!” one person wrote.
“Heather is too old to wear crop tops,” said another.
“Again with the inappropriate clothes and protruding ribs,” complained a third.
“Ribs is not flattering or nice to look at no matter what age you are[.] It doesn’t promote health,” noted someone else.
Another commenter advised Heather to “stop sucking in [her] stomach or [wear] less crop tops.”
“The ribs look is not in,” someone else agreed.
Others slammed the look as “terrible” and “ridiculous.”
“Lay off the crop tops,” one person demanded.
A short time later, and along with a couple of additional photos, Heather returned to Instagram, where she reacted to the comments from her fans and followers.
“This is what my stomach actually looks like!!! Why do I keep sucking it in and making it look weird?!?” she wondered.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 18 is currently in production.
