RHOA alum Cynthia Bailey’s ex-husband, Peter Thomas, was arrested for DUI. Get all the details on Peter’s latest arrest.
Peter Thomas, of Real Housewives of Atlanta fame, has been arrested for driving under the influence, per Page Six.
The Bar One owner was booked on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET in Cobb County, Ga. Peter Thomas posed for a mugshot before being released on $3,000 bail, according to his booking sheet.
The RHOA alum was also cited for driving without a license and not having proof of insurance. He was also charged with failure to maintain a lane, having an expired/no tag, and a violation of a traffic control device.
A judge declared that Peter is prohibited from drinking alcohol and ingesting marijuana. The businessman must also submit to random drug and alcohol testing, which he must cover the cost of. He is also not allowed to possess any firearms.
Peter spoke out about his arrest for DUI on his Instagram on Friday after the news became public knowledge.
“My phone is blowing up; everyone’s calling me; I’m wondering what’s going on,” Peter said while sipping coffee while sitting on an airplane. “Then I realized … it’s the DUI thing that happened last Wednesday.”
“I refused to blow. I spent the night in the hospital because my blood pressure was so high,” he recalled. “They told me I have to turn myself in because there was gonna be a warrant, so I did so. Turned myself in, bailed myself out [in] three hours.”
“Of all the venues and all the years I’ve been in this game, I’ve never been arrested for DUI,” he concluded. “I’m mindful about that. I have a little brother that got killed because of drunk driving, so I am really mindful about that.”
It’s no secret that Peter Thomas has a long history with the law. In 2019, the RHOA alum was arrested at the Miami International Airport for allegedly writing a fraudulent check.
According to Peter, he wrote a $4000 check to book a performer at his bar, but his “checking account was compromised,” so the bank flagged the check.
“The bank shut it down,” he said. “That means somebody got my debit card number and was using it everywhere.”
“Six days I spent in jail,” he said. “[The] ‘celebrity status’ I had made them put me around no one for six days. I don’t wish that on anyone, but I had a lot of time to think, and I had a lot of time to take medication because I’m claustrophobic.”
His attorney later told E! News that the arrest “was an unfortunate misunderstanding.”
Peter and his now ex-wife Cynthia Bailey joined RHOA in 2010. They split in 2016.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta is expected to return for season 16 in 2024.
