On Wednesday’s episode of RHOBH, Dorit Kemsley and her husband, Paul ‘PK’ Kemsley, had a real and raw conversation about their relationship.
The marriage of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple Dorit Kemsley and Paul ‘PK’ Kemsley is on shaky ground because of the 47-year-old’s PTSD after surviving a 2021 home invasion.
On the latest episode of RHOBH, PK admitted that he’s still struggling to understand parts of Dorit’s PTSD.
“There are elements I understand. There are also elements that I don’t consider are PTSD –– I don’t. I consider they’re more obnoxious,” PK told Dorit on Wednesday’s episode of RHOBH.
The couple sat down with their therapist to discuss the “severity” of Dorit’s PTSD. During the sit-down, PK asked, “The reality is, when does high maintenance blend with PTSD?”
“When I first met Dorit, she was this bubbly, enthusiastic, beautiful girl, and she was not quite as high maintenance as she is now,” PK added in his confessional interview.
Meanwhile, Dorit admitted in her own confessional interview that she used to love and appreciate how “he could let go of things so easily,” yet over the “last few years, he’s definitely gotten more harsh with me, a little mean sometimes.”
Dorit called out PK for “reaching” with his claims that elements of her PTSD are “obnoxious.”
As for PK, he denied he was exaggerating and insisted he was simply “trying to understand” what his wife was going through.
“We’re talking about specifically certain triggers,” Dorit said. “It’s like I’m a totally new person, and I can’t do anything about it. Do you have any idea how difficult that is and what it’s like to live with that?”
The RHOBH star confessed that she has struggled with PK not being there for her both physically and emotionally since the 2021 home invasion.
Dorit notes that she wants PK to “comfort” her more when she’s “having an episode.”
“In a marriage, these are the times that truly test your relationship,” Dorit explained in her confessional. “This particular bad time where I need PK, and it’s not the other way around, he’s coming up really short.”
However, PK opened up about the “pressures” of juggling all the many aspects of his life and admitted his inability to “balance it as well as I should.”
“We need to keep each other happy, and we need to sometimes be wrong, which has always been a challenge for Dorit,” he added in his confessional, noting that his and Dorit’s marital issues aren’t “a one-sided thing.”
While chatting with their therapist, PK got emotional when asking Dorit to “give me a chance to understand” her PTSD. He also asked his wife to “articulate it just a little bit calmer” and be “a little bit less irritated” by his questions.
“I’m not seeking to irritate you; I’m seeking to understand you,” he told Dorit. “It makes me emotional because you know I’m OK with it. It’s very difficult, when you love someone, to listen to how much pain you’re in.”
Dorit then comforted PK but emphasized in her confessional that she still needs her husband to “want to be there for me” in order for their marriage to “succeed.”
If PK can’t do that, Dorit admits that she doesn’t know “what the future holds” for their marriage.
This scene was filmed just months before the RHOBH couple publicly denied that they were separating. Despite the denial, Dorit and PK fessed up to enduring “challenging years” in their marriage.
“We remain committed to working through these issues as a united couple for our family,” the RHOBH couple told PEOPLE in October.
“We are focused on healing, making changes, and doing the things that many couples have to do at some point in their marriage. … We are doing what we can to focus on the best interests of our family.”
Dorit has previously been vocal about how she and PK’s marriage suffered after PK failed to give her the support she needed after being held at gunpoint during a 2021 robbery at their Encino home.
