Rachel Brosnahan is set to steal the show as Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy. During a recent interview, she teased the passion James Gunn and his team have for the source material and her hopes to honor the iconic Daily Planet reporter.

A lot is riding on Superman: Legacy as the jumping-off point for a brand new DC Universe. However, it seems Rachel Brosnahan is confident in the James Gunn has assembled for DC Studios’ freshman feature film, calling the entire team “perfect nerds” for Superman.

“I’ve really enjoyed the collaboration with James Gunn so far,” Brosnahan explained in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. “Every single person involved with this production is such a perfect nerd for Superman. We all grew up watching the movies and some of us grew up reading the comics. I feel like it’s being made with so much love. This Superman will have a sense of humour…we’re excited to both put our own spin on things but also honour the material we love so much.”

When she was asked to describe her version of Lois Lane in just three words, Rachel Brosnahan called her “Feisty. Dare I say, marvellous? And fiercely intelligent.”

It certainly seems as though James Gunn is setting up Superman: Legacy to be a true love letter, not just to Superman, but his entire supporting cast. Lois Lane tends to be just as important of a character in Superman stories as the Man of Steel himself, so it’s exciting to see Rachel Brosnahan take center stage in the upcoming DC Universe.

What to expect from Superman’s DC Universe debut

Superman: Legacy is a much-anticipated project, given that Clark Kent has been an integral part of the DC Universe for over 80 years, with various iterations and adaptations across different media. The movie promises to explore the character’s origins and his struggles to balance his dual identities as Clark and Superman while fighting off villains and saving the world. The choice to focus on the early years of his career is a bold move that could potentially breathe new life into the character and appeal to a younger generation of fans.

James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.

Superman: Legacy is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
