Marvel fans have been curiously waiting to see what Marvel Studios is going to be doing with the X-Men when they end up rebooting the franchise. Well, Hollywood inside scooper Daniel Richtman, who has built a reputation for delivering reliable information, says the idea for the next X-Men film is to focus more on the female members of the team.

Kevin Feige reportedly wants to make the movie as different from the 20th Century Fox X-Men films as possible, and he’s not looking to reintroduce Magneto in the beginning. Instead, the story that’s being developed is rumored to introduce Mr. Sinister as the villain.

While the Richtman is trusted by a lot of people, with there being no script and Marvel Studios in the middle of taking pitches from writers, it seems seriously way too early to tell what in the hell Marvel is going to end up doing. Maybe this is just something that was mentioned by someone and it’s nothing official.

Regardless, the first big X-Men film to be released is Deadpool 3, which is going to involve a lot of cameos from the original films. This third Deadpool movie might be utilized in a way to destroy Fox’s X-Men universe so that Marvel can start from scratch with X-Men, but who knows!?

There is one writer who has talked about wanting to develop an X-Men movie, and that writer is Loki’s Eric Martin, and he told Total Film: “I think everybody’s probably chasing after X-Men because I think that’s where the richest characters are. But I mean, who knows? That’s a decision for someone who’s not me.”

He added: “As long as Marvel is happy, of course, I’d love to [work on more MCU projects]. I mean, Marvel has changed my life by trusting me to write this season. It was a lot of responsibility, and I hope I’ve earned that trust. I think, for me, it all comes down to the characters. Do we have deep, interesting characters to work on? That’s what gets me out of bed in the morning. Can I tell a deeply emotional, character-driven story with these people, and on this huge canvas?”

Who knows what’s going to come of this, but I would put money on this not being how the next X-Men movie turns out.
