Former President Donald Trump is claiming he saved the world after he “dealt with North Korea” and saved everyone from a “nuclear holocaust.”

Newly unveiled video footage, which is part of an April 2023 deposition, shows the former President stating he saved the world from North Korea as he is the one who dealt with the nation and its threats a few years ago.

A nearly 480-page transcript of the deposition was previously made public as an exhibit in Trump’s New York fraud suit with Attorney General Letitia James.

As you may know, Donald Trump testified on November 6, 2023, in his New York civil fraud case, and his testimony echoed his deposition from April.

During the trial, Trump said he was too “busy in the White House” to worry about his businesses. “My threshold was China, Russia, and keeping our country safe,” he said.

On April 13, 2023, the former President sat for a pre-trial deposition in his New York fraud case. CBS News has obtained that footage in response to a public records request, which the public can now see shows Trump claiming to have saved the world from a “nuclear holocaust” and he is to be credited with “saving millions of lives” as president.

“I was very busy. I considered this the most important job in the world, saving millions of lives,” Trump said in the video, adding, “I think you would have [a] nuclear holocaust if I didn’t deal with North Korea. I think you would have a nuclear war if I weren’t elected. And I think you might have a nuclear war now if you want to know the truth.”

As you may know, in 2017, shortly after Trump was elected President, he threatened North Korea with “fire and fury like the world has never seen” if the nation continued to threaten the United States and its territory of Guam with missiles.

“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen … he has been very threatening beyond a normal state,” he said during a 2017 New Jersey meeting on opioids. “They will be met with fire, fury, and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before.”

Kevin Wallace, a lawyer for New York Attorney General Letitia James, immediately followed up on Trump’s claims of saving the world by stating, “I’m not going to use my seven hours on nuclear war,” before asking Trump if there were any business concerns during his Presidency.

“I can virtually not think of anything, I would say the thing [that] I was most involved in is, just don’t do deals,” the President began in his nearly three-minute reply to Wallace.

Donald Trump Calls The Case A ‘Shame’

In his courtroom testimony, the former President stated that the case a “shame” and a “disgrace.” He used similar language during his deposition in April, saying, “You don’t have a case and you should drop this case. And it’s a shame that somebody that’s done such a good job, the Convention Center in New York, so many things I did for this city, the job on the west side of Manhattan, thousands of people employed.”

He added, “And now I have to come and justify myself to you. I have to come after doing all of that and paid massive taxes, state taxes, and city taxes. And now I have to come in here and justify myself and have crowds of people waiting in the street. It’s a disgrace.”

Donald Trump is currently on trial as he faces a lawsuit from New York Attorney General Letitia James, which alleges the former President lied about the value of his assets to get loans from banks and insurance companies.
