In a tragic incident, it was revealed that Tajaliayh Briggs, a young mother who was six months pregnant, lost her life along with her boyfriend and her brother due to electrocution. The couple, Tajaliayh Briggs, 21, and her boyfriend Nash, were inside their SUV when a tree branch brought down a power line, causing it to fall on top of their vehicle.

Reports state that Tajaliayh’s brother, 15-year-old Ta’Ron Briggs, rushed to their aid but unfortunately came into contact with water that had a high-voltage current running through it, resulting in his death. Despite this devastating incident, their nine-month-old baby miraculously survived in the arms of his father, who managed to protect him from harm. The incident occurred in Northeast Portland, Oregon, and upon arrival, fire crews discovered the bodies of the three victims about 35 feet away from the SUV.

Family members believe that the tragedy occurred when their loved ones slid on the icy street and collided with the power line. Ronald Briggs, the father of Tajaliayh and Ta’Ron, expressed his grief over the loss of his daughter, son, and his daughter’s boyfriend. Briggs’ neighbor, Majiah Washington, played a crucial role in rescuing the nine-month-old baby from his father’s arms. Washington recounted her determination to save the baby, stating that it was the only thought running through her mind at the time. The baby was promptly taken to a hospital and found in good condition.

“I crouched down, I like kind of slid, I used my hands to break my fall, and I didn’t land on top of his father, but my hands landed on top of him, and I just grabbed the baby and pulled him up, I was swaddling him and I walked him up the hill,” Washington explained during a press conference.

“He was laying on his chest to the side, and I just saw him move his head. I just thought, I have a nephew myself, I have little brothers, I would want somebody to do the same thing, I would hope somebody would do the same thing. I’m just thinking that this is something, if you see a baby, who’s not going to go save a baby? But I guess everybody doesn’t think about it like that. I was concerned about the baby,” she added. “Nobody was with the baby.”

Ronald Briggs recalled when he and his wife were preparing to go to a store and heard a loud boom. They were shocked to see the car on fire after the power line fell on it. According to Briggs, his family inside the vehicle managed to escape onto the icy ground. Unfortunately, Tajaliayh’s attempt to save her boyfriend and their baby resulted in her coming into contact with the live wire. Ta’Ron, their 15-year-old son, also tried to help but tragically lost his life when he touched the electrified water. Ta-Ron was a sophomore at Milwaukie High School, and his sister was six months pregnant at the time of the incident. Ronald Briggs expressed his profound pain and helplessness at witnessing the loss of his children.

‘They were walking up the hill, and they slid back down. My daughter tried to grab her boyfriend, her baby’s dad with the baby, and his foot touched the wire. My son, my 15-year-old son tried to go down, and I told him, “Don’t go down there – try to get away from them And he slid, and he touched the water, and he and he died too. It just hurts. Seeing my kids dying – I can’t do nothing about it.’

The incident was reported by neighbors in the area, who witnessed a person on fire and a fallen power line. This unfortunate event adds to the toll of at least ten deaths caused by severe winter weather in the Portland metro area.
