16-year-old Shania Shakura Muhammad is going viral again as she documents her life as the youngest full-time salaried teacher in the U.S., who also happens to hold three degrees.
In May 2023, Muhammad first went viral as she made history at just 15 years old. At the time, she was graduating from Langston University with a 4.0 GPA, the highest in her class, even alongside her two older siblings.
At 15, Muhammad graduated as a Bachelor of Arts scholar from Langston, and along with this achievement, she also made history as the youngest person to ever graduate from the HBCU (Historically Black College and University).

Before receiving her B.A. from Langston, Muhammad also received two associate’s degrees, one from Langston and a second from Oklahoma City Community College. So, she was now the holder of three college degrees. Unlike many other juniors and seniors in high school, Muhammad had begun taking dual enrollment classes and earning college credits way before receiving her diploma. She revealed, “It took two and a half years for all three degrees.”
Weeks after Shania Muhammad, her younger brother, Elijah Muhammad Jr., follows in her footsteps and is getting both his high school diploma and his associate’s degree at 13 years old. After getting her third degree, Muhammad revealed she was preparing to publish a book titled, ‘Read, Write, Listen: 13 in College, How I Did It.’

She also revealed that she was pursuing a master’s degree at Langston — where she’s currently holding a 4.0 GPA in an MBA program, and again making history as the youngest Black graduate to do so. Additionally, since making history as the youngest graduate of an HBCU, Muhammad has made history again, becoming the youngest full-time salaried teacher in the U.S. at 16.
Shania Muhammad’s father, Elijah Muhammad, proudly announced to Facebook that the straight-A student had attended a two-year program for educational training via the Thurgood Marshall Foundation. Through the program, Muhammad received the necessary credentials to be offered a position to teach third graders in her hometown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

In his post, the proud father boasted, “Beyond Her Long Resume and Professional Accolades, She Has A True Desire and Passion For Teaching. I’m Super Proud Of My Daughter For Being Bold And Brave and Stepping Out On Her Faith and Into Her Purpose and Not Allowing People’s Opinions Of Her To Dictate The Reality of Her Dreams and Passions.”
As Shania Muhammad continues to pursue her MBA at Langston University while also teaching full-time, she has been documenting her journey across her social media accounts. Recently, she has gone viral yet again while hopping on the trend that finds users firing off stereotypical or obvious characteristics of the type of person they claim to be. For example, “I live in Atlanta, of course, every restaurant has hookahs and lamb chops.”
But in Shania Muhammad’s viral video, she says, “I’m a 16-year-old teacher… Anytime I tell people I’m 16, they always respond, ‘No, you’re not.’” She continues “I’m a 16-year-old teacher… Of course, my students are walking around in the hallways talking about some, ‘My teacher’s the youngest teacher in America.’ Duhhh.” Muhammad adds, “I’m a 16-year-old teacher… Anytime I tell someone I’m a 16-year-old teacher, they always ask, ‘How do parent-teacher conferences go?’” She also said, “I’m a 16-year-old teacher… Of course, people are going to doubt my abilities to do my job.”
