It seems more than just a few cameos were cut from Marvel’s Disney Plus series Echo. A new rumor suggests the show’s original ending saw Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez forming a new street-level team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take down Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.
Echo was awash with rumors before its release. While most didn’t come close to being true, it’s clear some things were left on the cutting room floor given Marvel’s latest Disney Plus series lost an entire episode. According to Hollywood insider CanWeGetSomeToast, one of the things that was cut includes an alternate ending where Maya Lopez put out a call to Charlie Cox’s Daredevil to form a new team to take out Kingpin’s criminal empire.
Given MCU fans have been begging for a street-level team similar to The Defenders, it’s a shame the plot thread was entirely cut from Echo. Though given how closely connected the Disney Plus series was to Daredevil: Born Again, it’s likely the potential team-up will be at least hinted at in the upcoming series if the rumor turns out to be true.
Alaqua Cox’s Hawkeye spinoff series is the tenth overall original Marvel Studios series for Disney Plus. It’s also one of two live-action spin-offs from a previous series — the other being the WandaVision offshoot Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
Serving as executive producers on Echo are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre, and Jason Gavin, while Amy Rardin, Sydney Freeland, Christina King, and Jennifer Booth serve as co-executive producers.
