Meri Brown and Kody Brown, two of the stars of TLC’s Sister Wives, were married in 1990 — and Meri stands out among the Sister Wives in that she was his first wife. They married in 1990 and welcomed one child together, Leon, during their 32-year union. After their split, which rocked the very foundations of the reality hit, Meri has remained quiet — and she appeared to be single.
But a January 16 Instagram post changed all that. Meri marked her 53rd birthday by debuting her new boyfriend, Amos, on social media. Her post included multiple pictures of the couple snuggling up to each other, as well as more details about her new man.

His Name Is Amos
Meri confirmed her boyfriend’s first name in her Instagram post. She didn’t reveal Amos’ last name nor did she tag him in the pictures. Meri referred to her beau as a “good looking guy” in her post. She also joked that “he’s not 6 foot 6, nor is he a pilot, but he loves Christmas almost as much as I do.”
Amos Has 3 Ex-Wives
During a subsequent “Fridays With Friends” segment on Instagram Live on January 19, it was revealed that Amos has three ex-wives, to which Meri reacted by saying, “What?! I sort of have three ex-sister wives and an ex-husband, so I beat you.” During the same Live session, Amos admitted that Meri “being an ex-polygamist in the public eye” was initially a “little” bit of a red flag.
However, Amos didn’t let Meri’s past influence his feelings for her. She even recalled how they discussed her former polygamous relationship.
“I think it was the second time we talked,” Meri pointed out. “He was like, ‘Yeah, I’m a really private person.’ I’m like, ‘Really?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah. I’m not on social media. I’m a really private person. I don’t let a lot of people into my life.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, so how private are you really?’”
They’ve Been Dating Since October 2023
Meri said her and Amos have been together since October 2023, though she didn’t explain how they met. The reality star opened up about her decision to wait three months to reveal the relationship publicly.
“Ive been keeping this kind of close to me as we’ve been enjoying the last few months of dating and getting to know each other,” she wrote on Instagram. “As I’ve considered when and how I wanted to share this fun news and share him with the world (jk, not really sharing, I’m keeping him to myself 😉) I knew I wanted to celebrate my birthday in a special way and let you celebrate this with me!”
Meri’s Dog ‘Loves’ Him
Meri gushed that her dog, Zona, “absolutely loves” Amos on Instagram. Her post included a snapshot of Zona’s paw on Amos’ hand. She also shared a photo of the couple posing with her dog in front of a tree outside.
Why Did Meri & Kody Split?
Meri and Kody ended their marriage after 32 years in January 2023. They confirmed the split in a statement that read, “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship. During this process, we are committed to kindness and respect toward each other and to all members of our family, and we are also committed to the continued healing of any and all relationships with the family so that we can move forward with forgiveness, grace and love.”
Meri and Kody’s struggles began years ago, but the tension in their marriage hit a high point in 2015. Meri began an online relationship with another man, but eventually found out she had been catfished by a woman who had taken on a fake identity. The scandal caused Kody to lose trust in Meri, and their relationship never fully recovered.
The end of Meri and Kody’s relationship was shown in the November 19, 2023 episode of Sister Wives, when Kody told her that “romance” could “never be in the picture for them” again. On the November 5 episode, Meri said, “We really haven’t had any sort of marriage for like 8 years. It’s disappointing to me because I know the person that he was when we got married. I know the couple that we were.”
