Glander said in a statement: “I can’t believe how lucky I am to work with this cast. Some of them are long-time pals, and others are superstars who I’ve admired for years and years. Really, can you imagine a better group of people to be locked in a soundproof booth with? Pinch me, I must be dreaming. Zzzzzz.”
Boys Go to Jupiter will be animated in Glander’s trademark 3D visual style and sonic palette, according to the producers. The film’s official synopsis indicates the film is set in Florida the day after Christmas and centers on Billy 5000, an aimless teenager and delivery driver.
During a routine dropoff, Billy becomes the owner and caretaker of a mysterious egg that hatches a creature from another world. Suddenly, Billy has to make hard choices about life, love and money as part of a dreamy coming-of-age story with heart, humor and banger musical numbers.
Glander earlier helmed projects for Adult Swim, Disney, HBO Max and Cartoon Network. He’s best known for his cult hit video game Art Sqool and his 3D illustrations often appearing in The New York Times and The New Yorker. Boys Go to Jupiter is currently in post-production. Glander is self-financing the movie, with Peisin Yang Lazo serving as executive producer.
