Travis McBride, a 46-year-old anger management therapist in Florida, has recently been arrested and charged with one count of first-degree premeditated murder. McBride is accused of gunning down a man in the street and then stuffing the dead body in his car trunk.

Several witnesses said they saw the Florida therapist, who specializes in anger management and PTSD, fatally shoot 51-year-old Clinton “Clint” Dorsey in the middle of the street and then drag his body into the woods. Witnesses also claimed that the two men “were known to each other and had an ongoing dispute.”

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers with the DeLand Police Department arrived at a home on East Howry Avenue around 7:05 a.m. on Thursday (January 18).

The document reports that there were multiple calls made to 9-1-1 about a man being gunned down and that one of the first callers told the dispatcher, “There’s been a murder that happened. Person is looking in the road, cleaning up blood off the ground, and searching for the shells. Older white guy named Travis, he’s the one who killed a dude named Clint. Took the body with him, drug the body across the road, put it in the car, and left.”

Moments after the first caller, a woman, identified in the affidavit as “W1,” told a dispatcher, “The person who committed the murder is standing at the door of 624 E Howry Ave.” It’s detailed that the woman whispered for police to be sent to the address before the call abruptly disconnected.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they quickly located W1, who told them that McBride had come to her home around 7 or 8 p.m. the night before, claiming he was looking for Dorsey because he had done something to harm his dogs. W1 described Dorsey as a well-known homeless man who “lived in the woods across the street from her house.”

The affidavit read, “W1 stated that she saw (McBride) with a gun in his hand shooting, (Dorsey). W1 said she heard approximately eight to nine shots being fired. W1 stated she heard the gunshots and then saw the light on the gun. W1 noted that (McBride) was pointing the gun down at the body.”

After the man was gunned down, “W1 said she saw (McBride) drag the body across the street toward a wooded area. W1 said she did not observe any other person(s) drag the body into the woods across the street in the area when (McBride) shot (Dorsey). W1 noted that she was 100% sure that (McBride) shot (Dorsey). W1 stated she feared (McBride) because he was aggressive with his gun.”

During their on-scene investigation, DeLand Police Department officials recovered several shell casings and also noticed that the street had been recently hosed down in one area, where the man was gunned down. Investigators eventually received a tip taking them to a locked dumpster behind a nearby car wash.

On arrival, they recovered bloody clothing, 9mm shell casings similar to those found outside of McBride’s home, and what looked like a blood-soaked towel. Police also located a red Nissan hatchback car registered to McBride in a parking lot down the block from the car wash. Looking into the trunk, officials saw “what appeared to be a dead body,” and when one officer opened the door, they confirmed there was an “obviously deceased” man whose body was stuffed in the trunk.

McBride, who immediately requested legal counsel upon being taken into custody, appeared in court on Friday (January 19) and did not enter a plea. it is reported that the Florida therapist is the owner of Starting Point Mental Health in DeLand, Florida. According to his practice’s website, his “areas of expertise” are listed as PTSD, anger management, anxiety disorders, sleep problems, and depression.
