Netflix’s Blue Eye Samurai was one of my favorite shows of 2023. This show is so freakin’ good, and if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s worth checking out! Don’t watch it with kids, though! This series is ultra-violent and there’s a good amount of nudity. It tells an awesome revenge story, though, and features one hell of a badass main character.

The series has already been renewed for a second season, but there’s a long-term plan for the show that includes four seasons and a movie. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049) confirmed these plans saying they are also looking ar possible spinoffs.

Noizumi said: “We have a lot of stories in our hearts, that we’re just waiting to make. We need everybody to watch it, starting November 3rd, and then there will be a season two.” Green added: “Yes, which we have.

Green went on to explain: “It is plotted out. Season 2 has an approved outline. In our heart of hearts, we want to tell at least three, four seasons. We know the end of this story. We would love to continue. We know the spinoff…” Noizumi interjected saying: “A spinoff series, where Ringo…” and then Green cut Noizum off and said: “We know exactly where this goes in the future. We are just hoping that the audience for original content shows up and necessitates further storytelling.”

The series centers on a samurai in Japan’s Edo period who is out for revenge. It’s described as a “provocative and visually stunning cinematic series” that “immerses the viewer in a world of vivid adult animation with a live-action edge. Set in Edo-period Japan, Blue Eye Samurai follows Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine), a mixed-race master of the sword who lives a life in disguise seeking the deliverance of revenge.”

Blue Eye Samurai will include an impressive voice cast that includes George Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Masi Oka, Randall Park, Darren Barnet, and Brenda Song.

When the project was first announced, creators Michael Green and Amber Noizumi shared in a statement: “Our story is a larger-than-life action-adventure that takes place 400 years ago, yet Blue Eye Samurai’s themes are of the moment and the inspiration is deeply personal. We are grateful for Netflix’s passion for this story and for their bold vision for sophisticated animated drama.”

If you watch Blue Eye Samurai, what are your thoughts on the plan that the creators have for the show?
