Iman Shumpert has some social media users believing he’s sharing words for Teyana Taylor after posting a cryptic message. As The Shade Room previously reported, Shumpert and Taylor are involved in an ongoing divorce.

Here’s What Iman Shumpert Wrote
On Tuesday, January 23, the 33-year-old shared a few words to his Instagram Story. The message was short, and it was unclear whether Shumpert’s message was intended for an unnamed person.
“10 TOES CHIN UP. YOU AIN’T THE FIRST OR THE LAST SHORDY,” he wrote.
Social Media Reacts
Social media users quickly entered The Shade Room’s comment section to share their interpretations of Shumpert’s message. Many, such as Instagram user @thesariyahmonae, appeared to believe that the former NBA player was referring to his soon-to-be ex-wife.
“I’d be hurt too if I fumbled THE Teyana Taylor 🥱”
Additionally, Instagram user @t.tesfaye remarked, “May not be the 1st, may not be the last. But there’s only one her. So good luck pal.”
Instagram user @_astoldbyrenee remarked, “Just give us the word Teyana, we riding at dawn about you!!”
Meanwhile, Instagram user @skyboujee added, “Don’t tarnish your legacy king. Women used to be team you”
However, one Instagram user, @skoolboyp, posed a separate theory.
“Hear me out…what if that was his own way of encouraging himself? I dont think that this message was aimed at Teyana. He often times refers to himself as ‘shordy’ when he is speaking or telling a story from another person’s perspective. Telling himself ’10 toes down, chin up. You aint the first or the last shordy’ (to go thru some shi…) yall gotta chill being negative all the time without knowing the details bruh”
Instagram user @_shesmiles seemed to agree that Shumpert’s words were a pep talk to himself.

Note that Shumpert has yet to return to social media with clarification about his cryptic message. Additionally, Teyana Taylor hasn’t publicly addressed the speculation about her estranged husband’s words.
Instead, the mother of two has shared a career update regarding her next film.
A Brief Recap Of His Split From Teyana Taylor
As The Shade Room previously reported, Taylor confirmed her and Shumpert’s split in September 2023. At the time, the mother of two denied their separation was due to infidelity.
“…Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners, and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children. Most importantly, we are FAMILY & in the 10 yrs together, 7 yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT,” she explained.
Then, in November of that year, details about their divorce became public. Taylor reportedly accused Shumpert of being a jealous narcissist while accusing the former basketball player of negatively impacting her career and neglecting to spend time with their two young daughters.
After the reports surfaced, Taylor took to social media to ask the public to allow her family privacy.

“It is very heartbreaking that someone would take out the time to make such a private matter public for the world to see. However, protecting my family is one thing I’ve ALWAYS done & fr my children I will continue to do so. Please if y’all love y’all play nieces Junie & Rue like y’all have shown, please allow myself & my family some privacy to resolve this matter in peace,” she stated.
In December, Iman Shumpert denied Taylor’s initial allegations against him, per The Shade Room. However, earlier this month, Taylor filed new allegations against Shumpert, accusing him of negligent child care with their daughters.
More specifically, Taylor alleged that Shumpert is often under the influence while caring for the girls and even initiated an incident that put their safety at risk by making them travel alone in a rideshare service.
