Kelly Clarkson’s comments about the transformation sparked a playfully heated exchange between the two, resulting in a passionate defense from Vergara.
During the interview, Clarkson was trying to praise the cool makeup used on Vergara and expressed her opinion that the transformation actually seemed minimal. Shut up!” she said while laughing.

After Vergara’s impassioned response, Clarkson began to backtrack, realizing the impact of her initial comments. She praised the transformation, acknowledging that it was so well-executed that Vergara appeared to be an entirely different person. Clarkson even suggested that Vergara could have a second career as a different actress due to her convincing portrayal.
“They did such a good job that it looks seamless,” she explained. “You just look like a different — like, you literally look like you could actually just be this person in another movie. You could have two careers,” the singer said. She added, “You literally look like you’re a different actress, like, playing the role. You could have a whole different life.”
Clarkson’s change of tune pleased Vergara, who expressed that this was the reaction she had hoped for. The actress had wanted her transformation to be so convincing that people would see her as a completely different person. Vergara told the tall show host, “That’s exactly what I wanted — that reaction.”
