Tom Schwartz recently shared some good news about his family.
After opening up about the hardships he was facing at the Vanderpump Rules season 10 reunion, noting that he “almost [lost] my father [and] my brother [Brandon],” Schwartz, 41, confirmed that his family members have since “rebounded” as he also admitted to feeling resentful towards Katie Maloney‘s version of their divorce.
“I’m just so grateful that everyone is healthy and stable right now,” Schwartz told PEOPLE last month, per Bravo. “I know it can’t last forever, but I’m savoring the moment.”
After being met with a heartbreaking split from Katie, Schwartz learned that one of his triplet brothers, Brandon, had been diagnosed with testicular cancer — and that his father was facing blood clots that could take his life.
“I know there were some low points, and at one point I turned into a recluse and a hermit,” Schwartz admitted on the Everybody Loves Tom podcast. “It got bleak for a while, but there were some good points, too.”
Moving into the new year, Schwartz said he and Tom Sandoval, 41, would be traveling to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bangkok.
“We’re eating, we’re praying, we’re loving,” Schwartz shared. “We’re gonna indulge in some culture. I’m gonna eat like I’ve never eaten before. I’m probably gonna get a tattoo, like a subtle one… I never really [sought] out that therapy that I was looking for this year, and I feel like I’m gonna get that from this trip. I’ve been needing to get away for a long time.”
Meanwhile, on the December 7 episode of Two Ts In A Pod, via Heavy, Schwartz reflected on his and Katie’s divorce, insisting he took “accountability” for his behavior toward his now-ex-wife.
“[I] want to give Katie a shoutout … she handled the separation and divorce in a very healthy, responsible way,” he began. “Doesn’t mean it didn’t break my heart. And still there’s times where I cry about it but it was a healthy decision. It was the right decision.”
That said, he hasn’t always been in agreement with claims she’s made about their split.
“Sometimes I can be a little resentful when I hear her version of why she broke up. But we both have our stories,” he noted.
As Pump Rules fans surely know, Katie has been quite vocal about the fact that she never felt prioritized by Schwartz, and has openly criticized him for failing to have her back on a number of occasions.
“You sit around and wait for someone to start behaving differently or act right. And then it’s just like, why am I sitting, hoping and waiting for something like that?” Katie asked on Dear Media’s Relationsh*t with Kamie Crawford. “It started to feel very disrespectful to myself. Like, these kinds of behaviors are hurtful to me, and nothing’s changed.”
