NIIKO X SWAE’s latest single is a bridge across genres that few could have anticipated, but many will celebrate.

The ascendant stars of dance-pop have joined forces with Train, the band that has soundtracked countless road trips and heartstring-tugs, for “Serious,” marking the latter’s foray into the dance music space.

NIIKO X SWAE recently teased a flip of Train’s hit “Drive By,” which ended up being a harbinger for good things to come from the production duo. Having been friends with Train frontman Pat Monahan for several years, the duo decided to take the leap and record a full-fledged original.

“I listen to a lot of hip-hop and dance music and love what NIIKO X SWAE are doing in the EDM world,” Monahan tells EDM.com. “It seems far off from the land I live in, but there are a lot of commonalities. When we talked about doing something together, I had an idea that I threw to them, and they took it to a whole other level. It sounds cooler than anything it could have been without them.”

Released via Armada Music, “Serious” emerges as a track that embodies the themes of breaking the ice and tearing down walls. It blends uplifting rhythms with vibrant production and a standout vocal performance from Monahan, creating a nostalgia-infused anthem that brims with crossover appeal.
