According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Kali’s owner had left the bulldog in her fenced-in backyard that morning, only to discover later that the dog had escaped. Witnesses reported seeing Kali approach a Hispanic man in his 20s, wearing an Amazon uniform and driving an old white Chevrolet Cruze. The thief stopped his car on Larkenheath Drive, picked up the dog, and drove off.
Fortunately, Kali was recovered from a nearby home and returned to her owner on January 16. Detectives identified Revilla as the suspect and interviewed him, during which he admitted to taking the dog. Revilla claimed he briefly attempted to find the owner before giving up and keeping the dog. He turned himself in at the Hillsborough County jail on January 19 and was later released on a $5,000 bond, as reported by the Daily Mail.
