It seems James Gunn can’t escape the rumor mill. The DC Studios co-chair took to social media to shut down one of the wildest rumors about The Batman: Part II.
The Batman Part II has been surrounded by rumors ever since it was announced, many of which James Gunn has already debunked. From Professor Pyg to Scarecrow, every “scooper” has tried to capitalize on DC Studios’ upcoming Elseworlds project. The latest rumor, however, suggested that Gunn himself canceled The Batman: Part II, leading the director to respond with an exasperated “No. 🙄” on Threads.
Given the first film was such a massive success for DC Studios, canceling The Batman: Part II would be one of the craziest moves James Gunn could make. While this won’t be the end of rumors for any DC project, here’s to hoping it means the end of rampant speculation about which projects are canceled or not.
The Future of Robert Pattinson’s Batman Series
The first movie ended with Batman apprehending the Riddler, who has flooded Gotham City, though details about Part II are currently scarce. Matt Reeves is co-writing the script of the sequel with Mattson Tomlin.
The heads of DC Studios recently revealed that The Batman: Part II is set to hit theaters on October 2025. The first movie earned $770.8 million at the worldwide box office, a figure that makes it the seventh highest-grossing movie of 2022.
