Robbie expressed gratitude for her blessings, stating, “There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed.” However, she did express disappointment over Greta Gerwig’s exclusion from the Best Director category, emphasizing that Gerwig’s achievement was a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime feat. Nevertheless, Robbie expressed being “beyond ecstatic” about “Barbie” receiving eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling, Supporting Actress for America Ferrera, Costume Design, Production Design, and two nominations for Original Song. She highlighted the film’s impact on culture and how it has exceeded their expectations, as reported by Variety. The reactions from people to the movie have been the most rewarding part of the experience for Robbie. She mentioned the online discussions and the film’s visual impact, with pink being prominently featured. Robbie acknowledged that while she has been a part of other successful projects, this one feels different and has significantly affected culture, as reported by Variety.

The snubs faced by both Robbie and Gerwig caused controversy following the announcement of the Oscar nominations. Gosling and Ferrera, their nominated co-stars, expressed disappointment with the Academy’s decision. Ferrera praised Robbie’s incredible talent as an actress, emphasizing her mastery on screen. Gosling credited Gerwig and Robbie as the driving forces behind the film’s success and expressed his disappointment at their exclusion from the respective categories.

Robbie herself is nominated for Best Actress at the upcoming SAG Awards, where the “Barbie” cast is also in contention for the prestigious Outstanding Ensemble in a Motion Picture award.
