According to Oxygen’s official website, the two-part series called “Selena And Yolanda,” consists “of wide-ranging interviews from prison. Saldivar details her working relationship and friendship with Selena, and she’s not alone. For the first time, members of Yolanda’s family discuss the two women and share never-before-revealed documents and recordings in an effort to show there was more to the tragedy than the public knows.” On March 31, 1995, tragedy shook the Latin music scene when Selena was shot and killed by Saldivar, who was the president of her fan club. Saldivar was found guilty of murder on October 23, 1995, and sentenced to life in prison.
The trailer for Saldivar’s exclusive interview was released on Oxygen True Cime’s TikTok page on Saturday which sparked backlash from fans of Selena and other social media users. One user wrote, “****Yolanda Saldívar and anybody who chooses to give that liar a platform. She killed Selena in cold blood in the most cowardly way possible – shooting her in the back – and still won’t own up to it almost 30 years later. Let her rot!”

Another user wrote, “The Quintanilla family is getting this show pulled for sure. Her dad understandably contests anything using Selena’s likeness without their permission.”
The Quintanilla family has yet to release a statement about the interview, but fans are requesting that the two-part series be removed as they believe Saldivar does not deserve a platform.
