The Thunderdome brought all sorts of surprises this year.
Excision gathered some of the biggest names in bass music to take over the Tacoma Dome last weekend for the curated three-day curated event. One of the most-anticipated performances of the weekend took place on the third night and saw two of the genre’s most talented producers join forces for a collaborative set.
While Space Laces and Eptic onstage together is noteworthy enough, an unannounced surprise from the former sent fans all across the bass fandom into a spiral. Midway through their performance, Space Laces got on the mic and introduced a never-before-heard track as a collaboration with the masterful G Jones, one of EDM.com’s best music producers of 2022.
Footage shared on social media shows the unreleased track is much heavier than anything in Jones’ library but still incorporates many elements of his signature sound. Despite thriving on different wavelengths of the bass spectrum, it’s a real treat to see two renowned producers put their galaxy brains together.
It’s the second time in the past month that fans of Space Laces have been treated to a surprising collaboration reveal. A few weeks ago, Marshmello premiered an unreleased track from the duo during his headlining performance at Thailand’s 808 Festival.
Coincidentally, Mello also took the stage on the final night of The Thunderdome for a surprise appearance alongside Excision and SVDDEN DEATH, with whom he premiered an unreleased track.
At the time of writing, neither Space Laces nor G Jones has announced a title or release date for their new collaboration.
