Yandy Smith and her husband, Mendeecees Harris, are going viral after taking to social media to share a throwback story about how they met.

Yandy Smith & Mendeecees Go Viral
On Tuesday, February 6, Yandy Smith took to Instagram to share a joint video post with her husband. In the clip, the couple sat in a car as Smith thanked the NAACP for nominating them for “Black Love Month.” To note, the 55th Annual NAACP Image Awards is set to occur on Saturday, March 16, per the organization’s official Instagram account.
As the clip continued, Smith explained that her and her husband’s story “starts off a little different.”
Smith told viewers that she and Mendeecees met while he was working as a stripper at her birthday party. Her words prompted Mendeecees to look over at her abruptly in surprise. However, she continued.
“And his name was — you guys know him as Mendeeceees, but I met him as Mendingo,” she continued, with Mendeecees looking over at her again. “And you know, in trying to get past the initial stigma of him being a ‘stripper’…”
Smith was then interrupted by Mendeecees telling her to re-record the video.
“You telling people I’m a stripper?” he asked.
Instead, Smith continued.
“I liked him the minute I met him. He just seemed so calm and so gentle,” she continued. “And, you know, when I wanted to talk to him and get to know more about him, he couldn’t speak my language.”
Smith alleged that she and Mendeecees initially communicated through body language, which only appeared to agitate him more.
