Investigation Network has recently unveiled a trailer for its much-anticipated documentary, “Quiet on Set,” which delves into accusations against the once-celebrated Nickelodeon figure, Dan Schneider. The docuseries, spread across four episodes, aims to shed light on the darker aspects of Schneider’s career; he is known for his significant contributions to Nickelodeon’s golden era, having developed beloved series such as “The Amanda Show,” “Drake & Josh,” “Zoey 101”, and “iCarly.”

Schneider, who started his career as a child actor, was at the center of controversy when Nickelodeon ended their 25-year partnership with him in 2018. This decision came after allegations surfaced regarding his abusive behavior toward colleagues and actors on set. “Quiet on Set” promises to unveil the complexities of Schneider’s empire, which, despite its significant impact on pop culture, was marred by claims of a toxic workplace environment. The documentary is said to explore the contrast between the vibrant, humorous facade of Schneider’s shows and the grim reality behind the scenes, characterized by accusations of abuse, sexism, racism, and inappropriate interactions with young stars and crew members.

Directed by Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz, the documentary features candid interviews and archival footage, including insights from cast and crew members across several Nickelodeon series. It includes perspectives from individuals involved with “iCarly,” “Sam & Cat,” “Victorious,” and “Double Dare,” highlighting the influence and issues within Schneider’s productions. Other actors involved in the shows, like Giovonnie Samuels, Kyle Sullivan, Bryan Hearne, and Katrina Johnson from “All That,” along with directors and writers from other shows, contribute to the narrative, revealing the alleged toxic and sexist culture that pervaded the sets, as reported by the New York Post.

The documentary also includes allegations of a pattern of abusive and manipulative behavior that spanned decades, with exclusive stories about child predators on set. Despite the serious allegations, a spokesperson for Schneider has defended his actions, stating that he was a supportive figure for the young actors, understanding the pressures they faced as child stars and the complex dynamics of working in the entertainment industry.

“Dan cared about the kids on his shows even when sometimes their own families unfortunately did not. He understood what they were going through, and he was their biggest champion. The fact is many of the kids on these shows are put in the untenable position of becoming the breadwinner for their family and the pressure that comes along with that,” a spokesperson told the outlet.

The documentary is set to air in a two-night event on March 17 and 18, offering a look into the allegations against Dan Schneider and the impact of his work on the lives of many young stars.
