ScHoolboy Q has released a new video in the lead-up to his album Blue Lips that takes fans from doctors’ visits to the golf course.
Thevideo, released on Thursday (February 8), is the first episode of a new vlog series titled wHy not?
It shows the TDE rapper chilling with his French bulldog; at a medical office seemingly dealing with what he describes as “boils on my face” that popped up as a result of an attempt to bulk up; on the golf course; and, of course, in the studio.
In the studio scenes, the rapper is listening to tracks, presumably ones from Blue Lips, which will be released on March 1. Check the video below.
ScHoolboy Q’s scenes on the golf course (soundtracked by Vic Damone’s version of “Stella By Starlight”) are a reminder of how the sport has changed the rapper’s life.
“Coming from where I come from, the life that I had, I never thought about playing golf,” Q said in a 2022 video posted by the PGA Tour. “I got into it, and it changed my mental, it let me learn myself as a person.
“Like, this is why certain things in my life are going bad or certain things are going good, because of the attitude thing. It fixed my attitude in life. It fixed a whole lot of things about me in life.”
He continued: “Life is a golf game. Some good shots, some bad shots. But most importantly, keep going because you never know. Don’t give up because you’re in the sand on your fourth shot, you might chip it in. It just taught me a lot about life, you feel me?”
ScHoolboy Q shared the tracklist for Blue Lips earlier this month via a trailer.
While guest artists (if there are any) have been omitted, it’s revealed that Blue Lips will feature 17 songs, with titles such as “Time Killers,” “Cooties” and “Germany ’86” — the latter being a nod to Q’s place of birth.
The South Central native later previewed two songs from the project on YouTube: “Back In Love” featuring fellow TDE signee Devin Malik and “Blueslides,” the latter of which references the death of Q’s close friend Mac Miller.
