Hydraulix has never been one to be held down by norms. His latest EP, Nerves, finds the bass music virtuoso producing a genre-defying package ready for festival season.
Returning to what has quickly become a home for him in Wakaan, Nerves captures the versatile essence of Hydrualix. Hydraulix has seemingly perfected his ability to sow his sound into anything he touches, crafting soundscapes unique to him by weaving through various genres from drum & bass to nostalgic trap.
“Anxious” (with Maksim) embraces a bass-forward sound paired effortlessly with grime verses while “All Eyes” kicks up the tempo, infusing wobbly synths with hypnotic vocal samples. The EP closes out with “Click Clack” (with NIKA D) but takes an approach most wouldn’t expect. Channeling his inner Jack Ü, Hydraulix combines distorted horns with bobbling low-ends.
Hydraulix continues to defy genres with his distinct sound, refusing to be blocked by any barriers. Following 2021’s debut album, Imposter Syndrome, he’s continued to build upon the sound that paved the way for his career.
